At Pennyman Primary Academy, good relationships are fundamental to our ethos and our success in being a happy, caring and safe school. Relationships and Health Education is lifelong learning about relationships, emotions, looking after ourselves, different families and puberty. We aim for our children to acquire the appropriate knowledge, develop their skills and form positive beliefs, values and attitudes. Relationships have a key part to play in the personal, social, moral and spiritual development of pupils. Our RSE curriculum aims to develop positive values and a moral framework that will guide pupils’ decisions, judgements and behaviour as they move into adolescence and adulthood. Pupils will understand the consequences of their actions and behave responsibly within all relationships. They will develop the confidence and self-esteem to value themselves and others and to have respect for individual conscience and the skills to judge what kind of relationships they want.
Progression within the areas of caring friendships, respectful relationship, families and people who care for us, mental wellbeing, being safe and physical health are set out within the RSE Knowledge Sequence Document available in the academy.
