Pennyman Primary Academy is a large, outer urban primary academy on the east side of Middlesbrough catering for the age range three to eleven years.
We are a well-established part of our local community and occupy a large site that includes playing fields, playgrounds and planted areas. We currently have 446 students on our roll and we have specialist provision for 55 children with physical and medical needs who are taught inclusively alongside their peers. We also have a 39-place nursery and a special Resource Nursery.
We employ 78 people, of whom 28 are teaching staff. Our Executive Headteacher is Katrina Morley, and she is supported by Kate Barkley who is our Head Teacher, Jen Duncan who is our Deputy Head Teacher, Sara Hood who is our Deputy Head of Academy and Deborah Fawcett who is our Assistant Head of Academy. We have 17 classes in total and class teachers are supported by teaching assistants who help to ensure that each pupil receives a high level of individual attention and care.
We are at the forefront of inclusive education and a strong, positive, inclusive ethos permeates everything that the academy does. Our academy has been recognised by Ofsted as providing an outstanding education for our pupils; as an academy where pupils’ behaviour is excellent, and where good relationships between staff and pupils foster good attitudes to learning.
